Udi's Pizza Crust

It is so great to have pizza crust available when you are gluten free.  I got some to try from the folks at Udi's. I decided to try cheese and broccoli on it.  A tip they gave me was to cook it a bit on both sides before putting the toppings on, great tip!  It had more flavor than any other crust I have tried, and held together very nicely, I didn't have to use a fork with this pizza like I do with others.  I could actually pick it up.

Udi's Chocolate Chip Muffins

These are a real treasure find. I opened up my sample box today and couldn't wait to try them. I put them in the microwave for 15 seconds, just enough for the chips inside to be melted. What a wonderful treat, I  imagine they would be great with ice cream on top also. These are fairly large, and they come in a four pack. You may have to hide these from the rest of the family. Great with some coffee for breakfast, or for a special treat.

These are gluten free, soy free, nut free, and dairy free, but you certainly cannot tell.

Here are the ingredients:

INGREDIENTS: EVAPORATED CANE JUICE, EGGS, FILTERED WATER, CHOCOLATE CHIPS (EVAPORATED CANE JUICE, CHOCOLATE LIQUOR, COCOA BUTTER), TAPIOCA STARCH, BROWN RICE FLOUR, CANOLA OIL OR SUNFLOWER OIL, COCOA POWDER, PALM SHORTENING, BAKING POWDER (SODIUM BICARBONATE, CORNSTARCH, CALCIUM SULFATE, MONOCALCIUM PHOSPHATE), SALT, VANILLA EXTRACT (VANILLA BEANS, WATER, ALCOHOL, CANE SUGAR), SUNFLOWER LECITHIN (CONTAINS TRICALCIUM PHOSPHATE), LEMON FLAVOR (LEMON OIL, LEMON ZEST, SUGAR), XANTHAN GUM. Udi's Gluten Free Raisin Cinnamon Bagels

This was the first sample I tried in my Udi's sample pack, thanks to the good folks at Udi's.  These bagels are huge, half of one is enough for me.  I decided to toast the bagel, as that is how I enjoy them.  I put some butter on and enjoyed!  You can really taste the rasins, only a hint of cinnamon.  My son also enjoyed some with peanut butter on it, as you can see in the photo.  These are also not as chewy as a regular bagel, which I like.  Also Dairy free!

These are great for an anytime snack or part of a nutrional breakfast.  They also make plain bagels.

Food Should Taste Good Chips

These chips are all natural, gluten free, a good source of fiber, cholesterol free, and no trans fat.  Thanks to the good people at Food Should Taste Good , I got a sample box to try.

First ones I tried were Sweet Potato chips.  These are the color and shape of a Sweet Potato.  I was hesistant at first,  since sweet potatoes are not my favorite of foods, but these are very tasty!
These are good alone or they suggest a fruit salsa.  In fact, I couldn't help myself but to almost eat the entire bag, with a little help from my son.  they have a bit of sweetness to them.

Next I tried the Jalapeno chips.  They certainly have a kick to them. If you enjoy spice, these are the ones for you.  These would be good paired with a fruit salsa or some guacamole.  These would be great for my husband who loves the extra spice.

Third were the Olive Chips, first bite you could definetely taste olive flavor.  These are a very different and interesting chip, not boring.  They have black, green, and Kalamata olives in them.  Not too powerful, would be great with a hummus dip.

Fourth are the Multigrain chips.  I can definetely taste the sesame seeds.  These are kind of like a cracker, nice crunch and flavorful.  Suggestions are a bean dip or a spinach dip, would be great with a cheese on top too.

Last crackers I tried are the Blue Corn.  These were pretty basic, not much flavor compared to the other chips.  Would be much better dipped in a salsa, or perhaps a spinach dip.  I tried them dipped in guacamole tofutti very good.

Overall my favorites of the five were the Sweet Potato and the Olive for flavor.

Make sure to go to their website and get a dollar off coupon.

They do sell these chips at my local Sendik's and at Whole Foods, you can also check online for local stores that carry them.

Enjoy!

Gluten Free Dairy Free Soy Free Mac and Cheese!

Yes, for those of us with several intolerances, Amy's has finally come out with this.  It is a small 8 oz package, but it is great for lunch or a snack.  I didn't believe it would taste good, but it tastes just like regular mac and cheese, and very cheesy, I couldn't believe there was no dairy.  I found it at my local Woodman's .  For just over three dollars, it was definetely worth the splurge.

To give it some zing I added a bit of garlic seasoning and some broccoli.  Run out and try some today!

They also have a new burrito that is gluten and dairy free.  I also found these at Woodman's.  Delicious!  Beans and Rice, great for a snack or a small lunch.  These I found also for just over 3 dollars. I find these are better warmed up in the oven if you have the time, gives it a better texture.

French Meadow Bakery Review Gluten Free Brownies

I was so excited to try the product, I ran out the same day I got the coupons in the mail,  and decided to try the Gluten Free  Fudge Brownies.  I was able to find these at Woodmans in Menomonee Falls, I do believe they carry them in Sendiks also.

There are nine per package, they come frozen, but each is individually wrapped for freshness.  I let it thaw out for a few hours, and it was delicious!  My son enjoyed it also.  They were so moist and a great snack. They are also Lactose, Casein, and Peanut free.  Would be great topped with some vanilla ice cream too.

You can trust their product because they are made in a gluten free facility and certified by GCO.  They are also featured in the book Gluten Free Diet by Shelley Case, RD

Silly Yak Bakery

I recently tried some breads from The Silly Yak Bakery in Madison, WI.  Great Bakery that offers shipping.  They also have gluten casein free products as well.

I tried the multigrain bread, rice bread, and the pizza crusts.  Very good, the pizza crusts were the perfect size for personal pizzas.  The shipping prices are reasonable, and it was so nice to have fresh baked bread.  They have a wide variety of baked goods to try. • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 4 cups semisweet chocolate chips

  2. Press a toothpick into the top of each ball (to be used later as the handle for dipping) and chill in freezer until firm, about 30 minutes.
  3. Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler or in a bowl set over a pan of barely simmering water. Stir frequently until smooth.
  4. Dip frozen peanut butter balls in chocolate holding onto the toothpick. Leave a small portion of peanut butter showing at the top to make them look like Buckeyes. Put back on the cookie sheet and refrigerate until serving

Tomaso's Now Has Gluten Free Pizza

Decided to check out Tomaso's for dinner tonight after hearing they now carry gluten free pizza crust.  I couldn't be happier as Tomaso's has always been one of my favorite places to go for pizza, now I can enjoy it with my whole family.

I got a nice size pizza, with cheese and black olives.  I really enjoyed it, the crust didnt fall apart when eating it, and plenty of cheese for you cheese lovers.

This is a nice little restaurant in Mequon, the old Albaneses, they also have a full bar.  I believe they also have a location in Cedarburg, and West Bend that also carries gluten free crust. Look for them on facebook for more updates.  Be sure to give them a try.  So far my favorite place to eat gluten free pizza out.

Great Review for Uno's Chicago Grill

I recently ventured to Uno's Chicago Grill in Menomonee Falls, after hearing of their gluten free menu.  I was so excited to go and get pizza with my family.  Here is a link to the menu, which has many items, including an Herb Grilled Salmon!  http://www.unos.com/kiosk/nutrition/gluten.html

As soon as I arrived I asked for a gluten free menu, and it was available right away.  It had everything on it from appetizers, salads, meals and desserts you can have.

It took a bit longer for the pizza to be made, but that was fine with me.  I was pleasantly surprised that it was about the size of a Tombstone pizza, although it was around 10 dollars.  This was a great size, I ordered the Cheese and Tomato.  It was very tasty, but as gluten free pizzas can be, it was also a bit crumbly, so I just ate most of it with a fork.  It was hard not to eat up the whole thing, but I made sure I save a few pieces for lunch the next day.

Enjoy your pizza!! Make sure you sign up online for coupons also.
